Green Thumbs!

All but one year that we have lived in the house we have planted a garden...whether we got anything worth eating is an entirely different story!!  Last year we transformed the garden by raising it into a bed a scootching it out into the lawn a bit to get it a bit more light, since it definitely does not get full sun, which is probably half of our problem!  A couple of weeks ago (I am way behind, but I WILL catch up!)  we started seedlings for tomatoes and peppers!  The kids enjoyed helping in the process.  Last year Rob did a unit for his classroom on growing plats from seeds, so for the first year he took part in the garden, and found he really loved it!  So he is now mostly in charge of the garden.

 Seed time!

First we poke holes for the seeds to go in...

Then we start planting!

I love this one!

Dad and his helpers

We ran out of pepper seeds, so we decided to try them straight from the source!  Who knows if they'll work or not.

Watering time

Even Ivy wanted to be part of the activity!

We've learned that labeling is VERY important!

Cover them up so they say warm and toasty to start growing!

Green Thumbs!

And you can see from their size this past weekend how long it has been since initially planting them! Let's hope for a good year where we get more than just tomatoes!  At least there are plenty of recipes that require tomatoes that we don't get tired of them.

You do such an awesome job at capturing your childrens' personalities. Case in point: your new header!

I too love the pic of Cora adding seeds. There is something very sweet about it!
