Sand Sculptures... at the beach!

Which way to the beach?!  We ventured to the annual sand sculpture competition for the first time.  We had initially planned to go on Father's Day, until we learned that that weekend was only when the sand was dumped (Rib fest was an even better substitution!).  Since Grammy and Grampy live so close they joined us.  Unfortunately it had been chilly when we left and the forecast said low 70's so we figured it would be even colder at the beach.. WRONG!  it was gorgeous, and of course we didn't bring any beach gear.  But that didn't stop us!

About 10 yards onto the sand we looked back to find Cole like this.. I think he may have been a sand flea in a former life... he just can't get enough!

First steps to the water.. The best part about Hampton area Beaches is that the water is shallow for a good distance, and there are fabulous pools which are perfect for toddlers to play in!

I love the beach! and splashing through the water!

Who needs bathing suits?  And Cora was at her first "topless beach"  we figured at 2 years old, a dry shirt for later was more important than bearing it all.

Rob taught the boys how to make drip castles... Cole was much more interested in demolishing them.

All wet and on our way back to the cars Cole decided to do this. Wet and sandy.. great combo!

These two hung back to visit the restrooms before leaving, Rob figured it would be faster to just carry him back, but didn't really want to touch him due to the wetness and sand!

Have you ever seen a rainbow around the sun?!

Cora was conked out practically before we had left the parking lot.. sun, sand and salt.. does the body good!
