Caden has a book titled "Blast Lab" which is filled with a bunch of different science experiments. Much like arts and crafts.. Caden is a BIG fan of science experiments. This was an experiment entitled Milk Planet which is an experiment that could be entitled "fun with surface tension".
Materials:
-Milk
-Dish Detergent
-Q-tip
-Food Coloring
-Jar lid(s) - we only had one lid so we just rinsed it in between
Fill the lid(s) with enough milk to cover the bottom of the lid, then add some drops of food coloring.
Dip the Q-tip into dish detergent
Place the soapy Q-tip into the lid and watch the magic happen! Really you need a video camera here.. without moving the Q-tip the colors in the milk whirl and swirl in front of your eyes as the surface tension is broken.
Repeat with new colors.. or even more colors!
